Grupo EGB Receives First iGaming Recognition in IIA May Brazil Campaign
Esportes Gaming Brasil (EGB) has achieved a major milestone for the iGaming industry after becoming the first company from the sector to receive recognition in the Institute of Internal Auditors of Brazil’s (IIA Brazil) IIA May Brazil campaign.
The group behind the Esportes da Sorte, Onabet and Lottu brands was awarded the IIA May Brazil 2026 Winning Company seal, as well as a trophy and certificate, during a ceremony held on 23 July.
The recognition follows EGB’s participation in International Internal Audit Awareness Month, where the company delivered a series of initiatives designed to improve understanding of Internal Audit and highlight its strategic role within modern businesses.
The campaign focuses on helping organisations demonstrate how Internal Audit supports effective governance, strengthens risk management processes and provides valuable insights to support business decisions.
EGB’s achievement marks the first time an iGaming company has been recognised by IIA Brazil, placing the organisation among approximately 100 businesses honoured during the 2026 campaign.
The list of recognised organisations included some of Brazil’s largest companies, such as Petrobras, Banco Bradesco, Grupo Mateus and Vale, as well as businesses connected to the Caixa ecosystem.
Carol Luna, Head of Compliance at Esportes Gaming Brasil, said:
"Being the first iGaming company recognised in the IIA May Brazil campaign is a significant milestone for both our group and the wider industry. Regulation has ushered in a new era of professionalism, where growth, innovation and efficiency must go hand in hand with strong governance, integrity and the ability to anticipate risk."
EGB Promotes Greater Understanding of Internal Audit
As part of the campaign requirements, participating companies were expected to publish original educational material across their official channels and complete additional initiatives, including webinars, presentations or training sessions.
EGB created a comprehensive programme throughout May, featuring educational videos explaining the purpose of Internal Audit, content challenging common misconceptions and updates surrounding the development of its own Internal Audit structure.
The company also hosted the Audit EGB Webinar, providing employees with an opportunity to explore the importance of Internal Audit within the regulated iGaming landscape.
The session encouraged open discussion around how Internal Audit can act as a strategic function rather than simply a compliance mechanism.
Alongside digital initiatives, EGB delivered an in-person training programme for professionals working across the second and third lines of defence, involving teams from Internal Audit, Quality, Compliance and Monitoring.
Campaign entries were reviewed by IIA Brazil representatives, who assessed each organisation based on creativity, originality, relevance, engagement and the overall impact of its initiatives.
Luna added:
"Our goal was to bring Internal Audit closer to our people and demonstrate that the function is not isolated or focused solely on identifying non-compliance. It is a strategic partner that transforms information into meaningful insights, drives continuous improvement and helps the business build more efficient processes and stronger controls."
The awards ceremony followed the 2026 Chief Audit Executives (CAE) Meeting, which brought together Internal Audit leaders from across Brazil to discuss industry developments, challenges and emerging trends affecting the profession.
