This week, the iGaming News team caught up with Steve Gummer, Director of the ever-popular free bets platform, freebets.ltd.uk. In the interview, we covered everything from industry trends to responsible gambling regulations, getting to know Gummer and his ambitious plans for freebets.ltd.uk.

Tell us about freebets.ltd.uk 

Freebets.ltd.uk is a UK-focused platform that provides bettors with the latest sportsbook and casino offers. The aim of freebets.ltd.uk is to put the player in control, providing them with a live feed of their options in real-time. As an aggregator brand, we work with a large network of operators that vary hugely in the product offering. This means players can search, compare and claim offers in line with their preferences and risk appetite. 

What is your role within the company?

I am a Company Director. This sees me involved in every aspect of the business. I wear many hats within the company, working closely with the marketing and SEO team to ensure we are delivering the content and services that our community desires. We have worked on some amazing campaigns in recent months, having engaged with top-level football clubs, charities and racecourses. 

Do you anticipate any key trends in the industry that will have an impact over the next 12 months?

There is no escaping the interest in crypto and decentralised betting services. From our research, it is evident that this trend will continue long into 2023. At freebets.ltd.uk, we work with compliant operators from every corner of the industry, giving players a wide breadth of betting services to compare.

We are also seeing a desire for responsible gambling brands amongst players. We recently ran a survey entitled 'Annual Free Bets Survey 2022' which threw up some interesting findings. According to our research, which surveyed 10,000 players, 65% wanted their free bets to be from 'responsible' betting sites that actively invested in player safety.

What types of companies do freebets.ltd.uk work with?

As mentioned, we pride ourselves on representing safe betting and casino sites of all varieties. This includes established all-market sportsbooks such as Ladbrokes and William Hill as well as new operators, sites specialising in eSports, crypto betting and more. 

What impact has the Coronavirus epidemic had on your business?

The Coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns had a significant impact on the UK betting industry. With betting shops closed and many key sports events cancelled, most bettors ventured online to look for alternative betting markets. At freebets.ltd.uk, we saw a significant appetite for virtual betting markets, seeing an uptake in the number of our players seeking these services. This is a trend that has continued way into 2022.

What plans do you have for your business in 2022?

2022 is all about scale and further developing our platform. We have doubled our team in recent months and partnered with tens of new operators, giving our users a broader range of betting services and resources as a result. We have recently launched the first free bets app which our development team will be adding some exciting new features to in the coming months. 

If you could give one piece of advice to someone in the aggregator space, what would it be?

Always put the customer first. Our success as a brand is largely fed by our dedication to research, with our team mapping new trends and ensuring our platform is in a constant state of evolution.
