Independence Blue Cross and Doylestown Hospital reach four-year agreement
Philadelphia, PA — December 6, 2011 — Independence Blue Cross (IBC) and Doylestown Hospital announced that they have signed a new four-year contract that includes IBC’s progressive hospital/physician incentive program, which is designed to help improve quality of care and lower costs for health care consumers. The extended contract continues to provide covered benefits for IBC’s members at Doylestown Hospital and is IBC’s longest incentive-inspired agreement to date. The terms of the agreement began December 1, 2011 and run through October 1, 2015.

IBC’s Integrated Provider Performance Incentive Plan (IPPIP) provides financial incentives to hospitals and their affiliated physicians for delivering improved performance when compared to their historical baseline. The year-old program ensures that patients receive more coordinated primary care and enhanced quality with efficient utilization of health care costs.
“Our IPPIP program fosters a greater level of integration between hospitals and physicians while recognizing and rewarding them for reducing hospital acquired infections and readmissions and for delivering better health outcomes,” said Doug Chaet, senior vice president of contracting and provider networks at Independence Blue Cross.
Doylestown Hospital joins Jefferson, Holy Redeemer, Abington Health, and Crozer-Keystone in committing to IBC’s enhanced care incentive plan.
