Marketing Services SVP John Janney discusses consumer engagement through social media strategy

Philadelphia, PA — March 22, 2012 — John Janney, senior vice president of Marketing Services with Independence Blue Cross (IBC), presented “Integrating Mobile and Social Media to Maximize Engagement” at the fourth annual World Congress Health Plan Innovation Congress, held March 21-23 in Orlando, Florida. Janney’s session took place this morning, March 22, at 10:45 a.m. Eastern Time.

“Health care reform has changed forever the way we do business,” Janney said. “How well an organization succeeds in this new era depends directly on its ability to innovate.” Developing new ways to design, brand, market, sell and distribute products, and retain IBC customers, is just part of the picture, he said. “Keeping members engaged and costs controlled are crucial in the brave new world of social media and smart phone apps.”

Along with co-presenter Steve Sorenson, director of Marketing and Product Innovation with Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation, Janney discussed:

  • The power of a personalized wellness plan and individualized interaction to engage people
  • The power of community in engaging and encouraging healthy outcomes
  • Social media strategies to maximize impacts
  • Examples and results — Exciting new apps
