As IKEA continues to make itself more accessible, affordable and sustainable, an important development is helping Danes to shop online and quickly be able to collect their purchases at a convenient location closer to their home.

An initial 45 local pick-up locations across Denmark have already been established, with work already underway to secure even more flexibility for the many customers. Additionally, customers can also collect from the five IKEA stores at Gentofte, Taastrup, Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg.

Customers can collect their products from a freight car at selected parking lots on selected time slots at grocery shops, shopping malls or local gas stations around the country.

“We are working hard to increase our accessibility and service, making it easier to be an IKEA customer. We are happy to see the positive reactions on our delivery services among the customers who live far from IKEA or who simply just want to save time when purchasing from us”, says Elefteria Cromlidou, Commercial Manager, IKEA Denmark.

The new service, called 'Click & Collect’, is an addition to the three-hour delivery timeframe introduced in Denmark in 2019, whereby customers can order and have larger items delivered to their home address on the very same day and for 75 percent of the country within just three hours.

Developments in Denmark are all part of a wider strategy to make IKEA accessible to the many customers. That includes expanding the fulfilment network and bringing products and services to more people when they want them, where they want them – in a sustainable and affordable way.

Of the many local pick-up locations in Denmark, 13 of those are in the Capital Region of Denmark.

“The newly added 'Click & Collect' service allows our customers to pick up orders closer to their own home in all of Denmark, says Peter Langskov, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager at IKEA Denmark. Peter adds that the Click & Collect service is popular among customers and rapidly growing. “We believe the reason for this positive reaction is that the service is both convenient and available for the many people”, he says.
