Coronavirus: Temporary IKEA store closures & re-opening details

During these extraordinary times, the primary concern for IKEA since the coronavirus outbreak has been the health and safety of our co-workers and customers.

Due to there being unique circumstances in all countries, evaluations and decisions are taken based on the local situation. The below details Ingka Group store closures and where individual countries have confirmed re-opening dates. Further details if required (such as opening hours and any local restrictions), can be found on the IKEA websites for individual countries.

Ingka Group is a strategic partner in the IKEA franchise system, operating in 30 countries.This information will be updated as necessary to reflect further changes. The number of stores ('blue box' or smaller, centrally located stores) in each country is indicated in brackets below. 

Austria  
As of March 16, all stores (7) were closed until May 1. IKEA Austria re-opened all its stores on May 2.

Belgium   
As of March 17, all stores (8) were closed until May 10. IKEA Belgium re-opened all its stores on May 11.

Canada 
As of March 18, all stores (14) were closed. Following a phased approach, all stores in Canada have now re-opened. This began with 4 stores re-opening on May 19, followed by an additional 7 stores on May 26. The remaining 3 stores re-opened on June 1.

China   
All IKEA stores in the country have now re-opened. Wuhan was the final store to re-open on April 21.

Croatia 
As of March 19, Croatia closed their (1) store until April 26. The IKEA Zagreb store re-opened on April 27.   

Czech Republic  
As of March 14, all stores (4) were closed until May 10. IKEA Czech Republic re-opened all its stores on May 11. 

Denmark 
As of March 18, all stores (5) were closed until April 26. IKEA Denmark re-opened all its stores on April 27. 

France  
As of March 15, all stores (33) were closed until May 24. IKEA France re-opened all its stores on May 25.
 
Germany  
As of March 17, all stores (53) were closed. The re-opening process for IKEA Germany began on April 22 with 11 stores in North Rhine-Westphalia. An additional 15 stores across the country re-opened between May 4 and May 7. On May 11, 23 stores in six regions re-opened, the final 4 stores re-opened on May 13, meaning all IKEA Germany stores are now opened.
 
Hungary 
As of March 21, all stores (3) were closed until May 4. IKEA Hungary re-opened all its stores on May 5. 

India
As of March 20, the IKEA Hyderabad store will be closed until June 7. From June 8, the store re-opened, however it closed again from July 18 and re-opened on August 5.

Italy   
As of March 11, all stores (21) were closed until May 17. IKEA Italy re-opened all its stores on May 18.

The Netherlands
As of March 17, all stores (12) were closed until April 27. IKEA Netherlands re-opened all its stores on April 28. 
   
Poland  
As of March 14, all stores (10) were closed until May 3. IKEA Poland re-opened all its stores on May 4.

Portugal 
As of March 17, all stores (5) were closed until May 31. IKEA Portugal will reopen all its stores on June 1.

Romania
As of March 20, all stores (2) were closed until May 14. IKEA Romania re-opened all its stores on May 15. 

Russia 
IKEA stores (14) and design studios were closed from March 28. IKEA Russia began re-opening stores in early June and all are now opened. See IKEA Russia for full details. 

Serbia 
As of March 20, the store was closed until May 5. IKEA Serbia re-opened its store in Belgrade on May 6.

Slovakia 
As of March 16, the store (1) was closed until May 5. IKEA Slovakia re-opened its store in Bratislava on May 6. 
  
Spain   
As of March 14, all stores (16) were closed. As of May 21, all IKEA Spain stores are open, visitors should check the IKEA Spain website for opening hours and restrictions.

Switzerland 
As of March 16, all stores (9) were closed until May 10. IKEA Switzerland re-opened all its stores on May 11. 
  
U.S.    
As of March 17, all stores (50) were closed until June 2. From June 3, stores began re-opening and all are now open. Visit the IKEA U.S. website for further information.

UK and Ireland 
As of March 20, all stores (23) were closed until May 31. From June 1, 19 IKEA stores in England and Northern Ireland re-opened. From June 8, IKEA stores in Ireland re-opened, while stores in Scotland and Wales re-opened on June 22.
