Ingka Group launches global diversity and inclusion survey

Ingka Group has launched a global diversity and inclusion co-worker survey, which is voluntary and anonymous, to provide insights that will support Ingka Group to create even more equal, diverse and inclusive workplaces.

We want everyone, in all parts of our business, to thrive and feel valued for who we are,” says Ulrika Biesèrt, People & Culture manager at Ingka Group. “We believe that a better everyday is also an equal everyday – at home, at work and everywhere in between.”

Do co-workers see the same opportunities to grow within their reach? Do they all feel valued for who they are? Are they comfortable speaking up? Do they feel they can bring their full selves to work?

“Today we’re not able to answer these questions fully,” says Biesèrt. “Therefore, to get the full picture, we want to get more insights so that we can take action where it’s needed. And by doing this survey regularly, we can track our progress and take actions that have an impact for all of us.”

The survey, called Ingka Includes, will help Ingka Group know what it is doing well and where it can improve.

“It’s a survey where we as co-workers can share who we are and what makes us unique,” says Helen Duphorn, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Ingka Group. “Everybody will be able to share aspects of our backgrounds, identities and how we feel at work so that we can create an even more inclusive Ingka Group where we all can thrive.”

The survey is voluntary and anonymous and aims to gather more knowledge on the total diversity situation across Ingka Group’s markets and operations. It is not connected to any individual or team.

Duphorn says: “We’re proud of our achievements to date, but there’s still work to do in reflecting the diversity of our many customers and in ensuring all co-workers feel included. We want to be an even more diverse and inclusive workplace regardless of identities, backgrounds or abilities, so we need to get more insights to have positive impact, and we have invited all co-workers to take part.”

Today, 50.2% of Ingka Group managers are women and progress is being made to close the gender pay gap. Moreover, Ingka Group wants to ensure it reflects the diversity of society at all levels of the company. There is a specific goal to reflect the demographics of society in all levels and functions, including a bold movement in racial and ethnic equality.

It’s a widely shared dream to live in a world where all voices and identities are welcomed, and no one is left behind. Ingka Group wants to make this dream a reality, starting at home. For FY21, Ingka Group’s inclusion index, which measures the percentage of co-workers who feel included at work, was 82%.
