CHILDREN HAVE A ‘DREAMNIGHT’ AT BLACKPOOL ZOO
BLACKPOOL Zoo hosted a special evening of fun for terminally ill children and children with life limiting illnesses.
The award-winning attraction joined zoos across the world to host ‘Dreamnight’ on Friday (June 4th) with more than 500 guests. Youngsters and their families had the place to themselves on a lovely, warm evening to meet all the animals, including a visit to the fantastic new Active Oceans area – and a display by the sealions. There was also a chance to get up close and personal with the creepy crawlies, watch feeding times at the Children’s Zoo, colour a giant poster, play crazy golf and have their faces painted! The idea for ‘Dreamnight’ originated at Rotterdam Zoo in 1996 and it has now become an annual event in Blackpool Zoo’s calendar. Proceeds from raffles on the evening were donated to Brian House Children’s Hospice in Bispham and Derian House Chidren’s Hospice in Chorley. Blackpool Zoo’s Director Darren Webster said: “This year’s event was a real success. We had over 500 guests who enjoyed all the good food and entertainment provided throughout the evening. “I’d like to thank the staff at the zoo for all their hard work and congratulate them on another successful evening. Well done!” Sponsors for the evening included: ASDA, Keel Toys, Wild Republic Toys, Walls Orchard Crown, Trevor Foods, Shorrocks, Out of the Blue, Sandcastle Water Park, Beverages Direct, Sandwich King, Speedi Serve and Six Piers.
