FIRST AER LINGUS FLIGHTS

BLACKPOOL International is celebrating everything Irish this Sunday (March 28th) - as the first Aer Lingus flight jets into and out of the resort! There will be Irish themed celebrations throughout the afternoon as the airport welcomes passengers on the first Aer Lingus flights between Blackpool and Dublin. It will be a real craic from 12.30pm with Irish dancing, tasters of Guinness and plenty of Irish stew. The new flights - branded Aer Lingus - are jointly operated under a franchise agreement between Aer Arann and Aer Lingus. It means that flights are now daily, and on a bigger, 72-seater aircraft; bookings are made via Aer Lingus’ website and passengers can also link into the airline’s transatlantic network to New York from Dublin Airport. Paul Rankin, Blackpool International’s Airport Director said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the first Aer Lingus flights between Blackpool and Dublin, which means that we are again offering daily flights between these two popular destinations. “It is fantastic news for our passengers from across Lancashire and the Lake District. More frequent flights will offer passengers greater convenience and enable them to link into the Aer Lingus’ Dublin transatlantic network – effectively they will be able to book straight through from Blackpool International to JFK New York!” Visit www.aerlingus.com to make a booking; more informational is also available at www.blackpoolinternational.com Photo Opportunities: Sunday 28th March, Blackpool International Airport 12.30pm: Irish dancers in check-in area to welcome passengers flying on the new Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. 1.30pm - Irish Dancers move into the Departures Lounge, where there will be Irish stew and Guinness available for passengers. 14.10: Flight from Dublin arrives; Irish dancers greet aircraft, in-bound passengers and crew. 14.35 – aircraft leaves for Dublin; Notes to Editors Blackpool International is 95% owned by Balfour Beatty through Regional & City Airports (Blackpool) Ltd, with the remaining 5% owned by Blackpool Borough Council.
