ISG Awarded Luton Free School Project

ISG has been awarded the project to construct a new free school in Luton as part of the influential EFA Regional Framework. The Moorlands Free School will be constructed for The Shared Learning Trust and as a ‘small class size model school’ will provide capacity for 504 pupils in class sizes up to a maximum of 24 children.

ISG was appointed to the design and build project at concept stage and will provide a complete turnkey service, which has seen the company take the scheme from concept, design and planning, to construction and full fit out. The 26,000 sq ft steel frame school building extends across two floors, with a combination of brickwork, cladding and render to its façade.

The school will include a sports/dining hall and full commercial kitchen, and ISG will deliver a comprehensive package of hard and soft landscaping across the site including a soft play zone, grassed play area, a dedicated hard surfaced games area, car park and pathways. The school is set to open in time for the start of the new academic year in September 2016.
