Iveco’s New Eurocargo will make its UK show debut at London’s Freight in the City Expo as the highlight of the manufacturer’s sustainable vehicle showcase, following the launch of the latest generation medium truck in Italy in September.

Appearing at the event on 27 October at Alexandra Palace in London, the New Eurocargo was designed from the ground up to be “the truck the city likes”, and features Iveco’s unique HI-SCR diesel engines, which are ideal for urban operations.

Two new four-cylinder 160hp and 190hp engines join a range of 4.5 litre four-cylinder and 6.7 litre six-cylinder engines, with the New Eurocargo’s expanded Tector series now offering seven power levels from 160-320hp. The engines can achieve Euro VI without the need for exhaust gas recirculation, thanks to Iveco’s HI-SCR system with passive DPF, which negates the need for forced regeneration, improving operational uptime as a result.

The New Eurocargo can also be specified with a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine, which is 5dB quieter than its diesel equivalent, making it perfect for night-time urban distribution. Natural gas also produces 10 per cent less CO and 35 per cent less NOx emissions, with 95 per cent less particulate matter.

The versatile vehicle boasts the best turning circle in its category – just under 11m for the 2,790mm wheelbase version – making it nimble in tight city streets. A new interior offers improved visibility and safety for driver and pedestrian alike, while the New Eurocargo’s built-in lane departure warning system and, when specified, advanced emergency braking system, could help drivers avoid accidents in the world’s increasingly congested urban environments.

New Eurocargo is available with a choice of day cab, crew cab, sleeper cab and high-roof sleeper cab models, 11 transmission options, including four automated, five manual and two automatic, and 15 wheelbases from 2,790mm to 6,570mm, plus a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 and an extensive range of final axle ratios. Standard models are offered in gross vehicle weights from 7.5 to 18 tonnes, supported by specialist road-sweeper and urban artic versions.

Freight in the City has been launched to provide a central resource and platform for anyone involved in helping to make freight transportation as clean, safe and quiet as possible. The event will feature companies and organisations from around the world, all working together to promote sustainable, safe urban deliveries.

As part of the expo, Iveco will also be showcasing a CNG-powered version of its International Van of the Year 2015-winning New Daily, which is ideally suited to fleets seeking to reduce their environmental impact.
