Highlights: Rail vehicle working optimisation; Mobile fleet control

Berlin, 27 August 2014 – At InnoTrans 2014, IVU Traffic Technologies AG is presenting innovative IT solutions for passenger and freight transport and transport logistics. Highlights this year are an option in IVU.rail for the optimisation of rail vehicle workings over a number of days, and a mobile application for fleet control. There are also new developments in IVU.workforce, a solution for the mobile personnel deployment in the rail sector, as well as in the e-ticketing systems, which now support the Calypso standard. InnoTrans takes place from 23 to 26 September 2014 in Berlin. You can visit IVU AG at Stand 409 in Hall 2.1.

IVU.rail – Rail vehicle working optimisation
As a specialised planning system for rail transport – whether main-line, regional or commuter and urban rail services – IVU.rail offers multi-day vehicle working optimisation and is designed to cater for the specific needs of rail operators. The system takes sidings capacity at stations into account and makes it easier to organise maintenance schedules. Planners can define the relevant resources and specify precisely when these are available at a given depot. IVU.rail takes additional train information into account for comprehensive planning. Rolling stock and formations can easily be chosen on the basis of the tractive power needed for a freight train or the necessary seating capacity for passenger rail services.

IVU.fleet.app – Mobile fleet control as Android app
With IVU.fleet, IVU provides an operational control system for urban and regional transport with extensive functions for the control of vehicle fleets. IVU.fleet.app is the mobile extension of this solution. Personnel can use it to gain an overview of the current situation even when they are not in the control centre. The Android app is able to display incoming radio messages and service disruption alerts. It lists available connections including details of the vehicles involved, and shows the stops and current positions of the vehicles on an overview map display. Using the system, dispatchers who are not at their desk can quickly obtain all the information they need in the event of interruptions to services, large-scale public events or when on stand-by duty.

Workforce management and e-ticketing
The mobile workforce solution IVU.workforce was developed to meet the special needs of transport service providers and logistics operators. The system supports a wide range of deployment scenarios in all fields of rail services. It includes an integrated journey optimisation function and makes it possible to freely configure work processes.

The ticketing modules of the IVU.suite (IVU.fare, IVU.ticket, IVU.ticket.box and IVU.validator) have also been given new functions. They now support the Calypso e-ticketing standard being able to both read and write on the contactless smart cards. The accounting system processes Calypso transactions and allows the definition of tariffs.

IVU Traffic Technologies AG has been working for more than 35 years with some 350 software engineers to ensure that transport in the world’s major cities operates reliably and on time. People and vehicles in expanding cities are continually on the move – a logistical challenge which calls for intelligent and reliable software systems. The standardised software products of the IVU.suite and tailor-made IT solutions are used to plan, optimise and control the scheduling of vehicle fleets and personnel. Other systems support the choice of branch locations or ensure that election results are determined correctly.
