How do you make a difference?

“I was designed by a guy called Aaron in Australia and he took me to Vietnam to be hand-made from recycled metal drums. The skilled crafts-people in Vietnam who make me get a better quality of life because Aaron pays them well and gives them the skills they need.”

You spend a lot of time outside – how do you cope?

“The drums I’m made of are originally designed to cope with the harshest weather conditions during their ocean-going past – this is then passed on to me as I’m made. I love the sun because I’m UV Resistant and my enamel-coating gives me added protection.”

Obviously you’re made over and over again … are all Clarence’s the same?

“No. We’re all made from different coloured 44-gallon drums - this makes me and all my cousins totally unique to the people, like you, who buy us.”

What are your best qualities?

I’ve got holes in my feet meaning I can stay upright on any surface – however uneven. My flower compartment has a hole for drainage purposes and a plug when you need me to hold the water and feed the plants I look after. I’ve also got wheels on my back legs so you can move me around easily.”

“There might be three of us but we’re all individual with different colour schemes. That’s just what people have told us - we’re blind, of course!

“We love all kinds of weather because it doesn’t affect us – Our UV Resistant coating, (and sun glasses as standard), means we can sunbathe as long as we like.

“If you want to give us a change of clothes you can do this with a good quality enamel and a steady hand.”
