Concert family continues to grow

Knutsford-based telecoms provider Concert has added to its ever-growing team by appointing two women who are returning to work following breaks.

Johanna Nilsson and Cinna Looker have both joined the team on a part time basis allowing them to split their time between the Concert office and their young children.

Former McAfee Channel Manager Johanna has been appointed Marketing Manager while Cinna is responsible for the recruitment of new sales talent.

Neil Hollands, Concert’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Johanna and Cinna to the team here at Concert.

“Their discipline and enthusiasm is obvious and we are more than happy to provide flexible working arrangements in return.

“We appreciate that there is often a lack of support and flexibility in the professional workplace for parents, carers or people in further education, and we would encourage anyone looking for a part time role in the telecoms sector not to be intimidated or discouraged.”

Johanna and Cinna have both returned to work following extended breaks after the birth of their children, and have been delighted with the support offered by Concert.

Johanna explained: “My previous job role involved constant travel, and I had to stop when my children came along.

“The fact that I can now work around their needs is amazing, and I love the balance. I know most women intending to return to work post-children see this as an obstacle and it is hard to find employers who are understanding.

“Concert has been very accommodating, and I was really attracted to the friendly atmosphere and young environment which, having been at home with two small children for nearly five years, was a breath of fresh air.”

Cinna added: “To have an opportunity to get back into a professional workplace and still be able to be there for my children is brilliant. Jobs like this are hard to find but Concert gave me that flexibility.

“My background isn’t in the IT industry, so I’m learning more about the telecoms sector each day and Concert has been completely supportive."

Having started her career at the first ever VoIP company in the UK – providing phone service over the internet, Johanna believes it is still a male dominated industry: “We feel it’s due to the fact that it’s quite technical, and engineering is a field where men seem to take precedence.

“There is no reason why more women should not work within this industry, it is so interesting because it changes so fast and new products are coming out all the time.”
