Burnley artist Liam Spencer breaks record for first night sales.

Clark Art in Hale played host to almost 500 guests on Thursday evening as it launched a new exhibition of work from Burnley artist Liam Spencer.

The collection titled New Impressions, features over 60 classic scenes from Manchester, East Lancashire, and New York.

One piece made up of 28 panels, the largest piece ever produced by the artist, sold for £15,000 on the night, with total sales over £130,000 – a record for the artist.

Bill Clark, owner of the Ashley Road gallery, said: “Liam Spencer is one of the North’s most critically acclaimed and popular artists. During the last 15 years he has had exhibitions in all of the North’s important public galleries, including a retrospective at Manchester City Art Gallery in 2006. His work is now in major public and private collections all round the world.

“It is an honour to launch his new collection at Clark Art, our customers are great fans of his vibrant impressionistic style.  It’s not often that you get a chance to meet and talk with such an important artist.

“The exhibition is visually stunning and a rare opportunity to see so many of Liam's paintings in one place.

“We are looking forward to welcoming more people through our gallery doors to view this unmissable collection.”

The exhibition, New Impressions, runs at Clark Art in Hale, until May 16th
