VALOUR Finance Group, have been crowned Business of the Year at the Stockport Business Awards.

The company, based in the town centre, was recognised for its sustained growth, profitability and work within the community to pick up the prize in the over £5million turnover category.

Managing Director Mark Bowker, who formed the business back in 2003, said: “It’s a real pat on the back for the team who are all incredibly hard-working and who have helped make Valour into one of the most successful personal finance companies in the UK.

“The Group has operated throughout the most turbulent time in living memory and has successfully navigated through a deep recession, a run on a number of high street banks, and a credit crunch. Despite this the Group has continued to grow and prosper.”

Valour Finance Group’s companies include ‘friendly lending’ company Savvy.co.uk which provides sustainable and ethical borrowing.

They also operate Valour Financial Management which helps consumers struggling with finances.

Mark added: “A cornerstone of our philosophy is the belief that business should give back to the community.

“We embrace getting involved with local charities. We see this as a key motivator for both attracting and retaining key staff and allowing us as a team to gain satisfaction and a sense of reward from our community and the charity work that we do.”

Recent fund raising activities have included training with former Manchester City player Paul Lake to complete the three peaks challenge, and abseiling down the Trafford Centre.

In 2015 Valour Finance Group have pledged 1,600 hours to charity work.

The awards took place during a black-tie event at Stockport Town Hall attended by 380 people and hosted by Key 103’s Chelsea Norris.
