Expansion of Keliber's Syväjärvi Mine Auxiliary Area Granted

Report this content

On 8 February 2022, the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) granted Keliber Technology Oy, under the Mining Act (621/2011), the right to expand the auxiliary area of the Syväjärvi mine in the municipality of Kaustinen, Finland.

In its decision, Tukes states that the extension of the auxiliary area and supplementary operations will not have such effects that it would require amendment of the earlier issued mining safety permit and the permit regulations. Mining safety topics for this area can, if necessary, be updated in the mine safety documentation during future mining inspections. A mining safety permit for the Syväjärvi mining area was granted on 13 October 2021.

The permit is not yet legally valid. The public announcement will be kept available until 17 March 2022.
