Knowit steps up its sustainability efforts further – partners with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and joins Race to Zero
The 1.5°C Business Playbook takes its starting point in the Exponential Roadmap, a science-based collaboration launched in 2018. It encompasses a set of guidelines on climate actions aimed at companies and organizations, to support their work to contribute to the 1.5-degree ambition of the Paris Agreement. The guidelines are based on the latest science, structured around four pillars: reducing the company’s own emissions, decreasing emissions throughout the value chain, integrating climate into the company’s business strategy, and collaborating with other parties to speed up climate action in society.
“Knowit has committed to halving its total value chain emissions, based on the figures for 2018, before the year 2030. Between 2018 and 2020, we decreased our own emissions by 72%, mainly thanks to the possibility of increased digital remote work during the coronavirus pandemic. In the future, we will adapt our solution portfolio to the 1.5-degree ambition, and help our clients integrate climate into their business strategies. We will work to decrease emissions exponentially through technical solutions, in both our own and our clients’ value chains – for a sustainable and humane society,” says Per Wallentin, CEO and President of Knowit.
Sustainability is something that Knowit has always attached great weight to, and the company’s policy reflects the ten principles in the UN Global Compact. The operations are to be conducted in an ethical manner, with respect for both internal and external employees, and negative environmental impact should be minimized. By having a positive influence on clients and, by extension, their end customers’ lifestyle and consumption patterns, the greatest possible impact can be achieved.
“At Knowit, we have a unique competence and experience of how digitalization can enable large reductions of emissions in society. The digital tools that we help our clients develop and implement can pave the way for a more resource-efficient society that is compatible with the 1.5-degree ambition, resulting in increased competitiveness and growth. Clearly integrating climate matters into our clients’ business strategies and in digital transformation projects is crucial for success,” says Ingemar Jansson, Head of Sustainable Strategy & Business Development at Knowit.
The Exponential Roadmap Initiative brings together innovators, transformers, and disruptors with a common mission of halving global emissions by 2030 through concrete action.
“We are delighted that Knowit is partnering with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and brings along its strength in digital transformation as a key enabler to reduce and avoid emissions, as well as accelerating the growth of climate solutions and innovations. To achieve the mission of halving global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, radical collaboration is required,” says Johan Falk, Head of the Exponential Roadmap Initiative.
