Apprenticeships on offer in Knowsley
Young people looking for a foot on the career ladder are once again being offered the opportunity to join the renowned Knowsley Apprentice programme.
From next Tuesday, 16-24 year olds in the borough can apply for one of more than 75 vacancies in a wide variety of professions, including construction, engineering, customer services, finance, business administration, teaching assistants and childcare.
Applicants don’t need experience, or lots of qualifications. If you’re looking for work, are keen to learn a trade, have plenty of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, The Knowsley Apprentice wants to hear from you.
Cllr Dave Lonergan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said: “We’re really excited to be launching another round of recruitment for the Knowsley Apprentice, which has already helped hundreds of young people into work.
“Yet again we’ve got a wide range of opportunities on offer, in a variety of sectors, and we’re confident that these jobs can lead to life-long careers for the young people who get them.
“Apprenticeships have also been really positive for local businesses, who get enthusiastic young people who are ready to learn and quickly become highly valued members of staff.”
Since 2008, The Knowsley Apprentice programme has helped more than 650 young people into apprenticeships with businesses across Knowsley and beyond. Of those who have completed their apprenticeship, the majority are now in full time employment.
Helping residents into long term jobs by improving skills, support for jobs seekers and building relationships with employers is one of Knowsley Council’s key pledges. The Knowsley Apprentice is a key element of this commitment.

Applications must be received by July 18, and it is expected the successful candidates will start their new roles in September.
