Christmas comes early for disabled children in Knowsley
Hundreds of disabled children and their families enjoyed a night of festive fun and cheer at the SPEAK family Christmas party.
Now in its fourth year, the event has become so popular that this year it was held over two nights to accommodate the growing numbers of children and their families.
More than 400 children and their families attended this year’s party at the Huyton Suite in Knowsley.
The celebrations were arranged by SPEAK, the family support group that gives help and advice to families with disabled children in Knowsley.
SPEAK (Support Parents with Events and Advice in Knowsley) is a registered charity which receives funding from Knowsley Council’s Short Breaks Programme.
The group is run by volunteers who put in a huge amount of time to support other families with disabled children. They go to such lengths that they even persuaded Father Christmas and his elves to help out at the party.
Mum Nikki McKenzie said: “We really look forward to this party.
“Sometimes it’s difficult to find places to go with our children and SPEAK really understands this. It’s so nice seeing the children all together having a good time.”
