Get on your bike for Bike Week
Knowsley Council is promoting cycling to local businesses and residents as part of National Bike Week (14-22 June).
The aim of the week is to show how cycling can easily be part of everyday life and encourage people to think about getting on their bikes to go to the local shops, visit friends or even try cycling to work.
Knowsley’s Business Travel Plan Advisors will be delivering free ‘Bike Sessions’ for local businesses where employers can have their bikes serviced by specialist bike mechanics on site. They will also be able to pick up free puncture kits and tips and advice on cycling to work.
Cllr Dave Lonergan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills said: “There are so many benefits of cycling. As well as being better for the environment and reducing the traffic on our roads, it’s a great way for people to become more active and improve their health, to get out about and even meet more people.”
“In Knowsley we have a fantastic cycle network, with many new and improved cycle routes now open. We also have regular organised cycle activities across the borough. Whether its work related or just for fun, there is something for everyone. You can even hire a bike if you don’t have your own.”
“So there really is no excuse, get on your bike and make the most of Bike Week.”
As part of Bike Week, the following organised rides are planned in Knowsley:
- The Grand Tour of Stadt Moers Park
Sunday 22 June, 10am start. Stadt Moers Park, Pottery Lane, Knowsley, L35 3RG
- Breeze - the Liverpool loop line
