M57 link road closure for Knowsley Expressway repairs

Report this content

Drivers in Merseyside are being advised that a short section of the M57 will close every weekend for up to four weeks to allow Knowsley Council to work on the A5300 Knowsley Expressway towards Speke and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The closures will begin this Friday, October 18 at 10pm. The southbound link road from the M57 onto the Expressway south of Tarbock Island interchange, where junction 1 of the M57 meets junction 6 of the M62, will be closed from 10pm each Friday evening for the next four weeks until 6am the following Monday.

The closures are to allow stabilisation work to be carried out to the southbound of the Expressway. It is expected to be completed by Monday 11 November.

The official diversion, via Widnes, will require drivers to leave the M57 at junction 1 and join the eastbound M62, travelling to junction 7 for Widnes and using the southbound A557 Watkinson Way and Queensway and westbound A562 Ashley Way and Speke Road towards Speke.

Local diversions will also be in place.

Westbound M62 traffic normally using Knowsley Expressway to get to Liverpool John Lennon Airport can leave the M62 at junction 7 for the Widnes diversion route or travel to the end of the motorway at junction 4 and use the A5058 and A562.
