Solicitor up for top award

A solicitor working for Knowsley Council has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Judith Maher, a Senior Solicitor at the local authority, has been nominated for the Local Authority Family Lawyer of the Year award at the Family Law Awards 2013, which take place tonight (Wednesday, October 9).

Judith has recently been heavily involved with the borough’s safeguarding children work, including Special Guardianship Orders and Residence Orders. This has helped address specific needs within the local community and her commitment to excellence has won her the admiration of colleagues.

Paul Boyce, Director of People Services at Knowsley Council said: “Judith is a really valued colleague who is committed to her work safeguarding children in Knowsley. She is an excellent representative of Knowsley Council and is a valued link between it and the Judiciary and associated organisations.

“We’re delighted that she has been shortlisted for this award, which is well deserved.

“We all have our fingers crossed for her ahead of the award ceremony tonight!”

The Family Law Awards recognise the important work of family lawyers, celebrating their many successes and outstanding achievements. The judging panel are made up of leading family law practitioners associations, journal editors and important legal figures. Three of the awards are voted for by the public.

The Awards take place on at the Hilton on Park Lane in London. They follow the Family Law Conference, which is taking place during the day.
