About Us

Founded in 1796, The Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences is a modern institution with a core purpose to foster science of importance to our national security. By creating, collecting and disseminating knowledge Academy fellows are contributing to an augmented awareness and debate on the development of Swedish national defense and security policies. A broad knowledge in society is deemed necessary as to the nation´s security position and also of the capacity, resources and economy of its armed forces and civil defense. Naturally this goes for citizens but is specifically beneficial, if embraced by decision makers in business, organizations, local and regional governments and by lawmakers in Parliament and Government. To contribute to such a broad knowledge in society is included in the Academy’s general purpose.
