Equality and diversity yielding results at Kungsleden
With the same number of men and women in the company, an even gender distribution among managers and equality on its Board of Directors, Kungsleden is one of the stock exchange’s most equitable companies on the Large Cap list.
“We work consistently with equality and diversity issues in general and in connection with recruitment, and this is yielding results. In recruitment, competence and experience are key, as well as giving everyone the same prerequisites to succeed,” says Hanna Brandström, Head of HR at Kungsleden.
For the company as a whole, the breakdown was 52 per cent women and 48 per cent men at the end of 2019. Among managers, the figure was 58 per cent women and 42 per cent men. In 2019, Kungsleden had equality on its Board of Directors, with Charlotte Axelsson serving as Chair. Ahead of the 2020 Annual General Meeting, the Nomination Committee proposes that the Board be expanded by one member. If the Nomination Committee’s proposal is adopted, the distribution will be three women and four men.
There are somewhat more women in Kungsleden’s Group Management, with CEO Biljana Pehrsson at its head. In 2019, six of nine members of Group Management were women and as of 2020, there are seven women and three men.
“I am convinced that mixed groups yield the best results. Since I became CEO in 2013, we have gone from a majority of men at management level to equality and diversity on multiple levels. At the same time, Kungsleden has had a fantastic earnings performance. Our profit from property management has increased more than 200 per cent and the share has yielded a total return in excess of 272 per cent, or an average of 21 per cent per year,” says Biljana Pehrsson, CEO of Kungsleden.
In 2019, Kungsleden was awarded the EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) Diversity & Inclusion Award, a prize for listed real estate companies in Europe.
