Kungsleden has signed several new leases for Finnslätten in Västerås. Battery manufacturer Northvolt expands its space by approximately 1,700 sq.m, the biotechnology company Scandinavian Gene Synthesis (SGS DNA) leases approximately 2,800 sq.m and IF Friskis&Svettis leases 800 sq.m with an option for an additional 300.

Kungsleden cooperates with ABB, Västerås Municipality and other prominent companies at Finnslätten to develop the area and create an attractive environment with a wide range of services that can attract additional innovative businesses and talent as well as research and education.

“These new leases with world-leading high-tech companies are exactly in line with the investment we are making at Finnslätten and strengthen the area’s attractiveness. Increasing the service offering in the area is also a high priority and IF Friskis&Svettis will be a welcome contribution,” says Mats Eriksson, Regional Manager Mälardalen at Kungsleden.

Both Northvolt and SGS DNA have decided to invest long-term in Finnslätten. Northvolt is currently constructing a production facility – Northvolt Lab – adjacent to the new premises that the company now leases from Kungsleden. SGS DNA, a leader in vitro diagnostics and part of the Qiagen international Group, is moving its operations from Köping to Västerås.

Northvolt leases space in Building 391 within the property Effekten 2 and SGS DNA leases space in Building 357 in the property Finnslätten 1. In the latter, a modernisation project is underway which aims, among other things, to adapt the building to offices, a school, industrial production and areas to improve the offering of services at Finnslätten.

The service offering at Finnslätten is being continuously strengthened and Kungsleden is currently constructing a training facility in building 391 in the property Effekten 2 on behalf of IF Friskis&Svettis.

Finnslätten is located just north of Västerås city centre with close proximity to the E18 and number 56 highways. A number of world-leading international companies are based in the area, including ABB, Bombardier, Westinghouse, Northvolt, Quintus Technology, AA-logistics, Enics, Strukton and AQ-group. Kungsleden is the largest property owner in the area with 237,000 sq.m. Västerås is located 100 km west of Stockholm and is Sweden’s sixth largest city with approximately 153,000 inhabitants.
