Skoot is a cuddly bear with a difference. When Skoot opens up to give his new owner a hug, he reveals a greetings card along with any item that has been placed inside him. Skoot the cuddly card carrying bear is a completely customizable plush toy that can be used to send a personalized gift for any occasion. In order for Skoot to make it into people’s homes though, the inventor of Skoot and CEO of the startup company Cuddly Card L.L.C, Marlon D’Oyley needs to secure $20,000. Those who contribute to the manufacture costs of Skoot will be among the very first to own a Skoot bear or even a whole crate of them.
Skoot the cuddly card carrying bear will be the first 12 and 1/2 inch plush toy to conceal items as gifts within its inner compartments. The size of Skoot means that he can carry a range of gifts from diamond rings to cell phones. If it fits, people can wrap their gifts in Skoot’s cuddly body.
In order to raise the $20,000 needed to bring Skoot to production, Cuddly Card L.L.C has raised an exclusive crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo. The exclusive campaign means that only the people who fund Skoot through the Indiegogo project will have access to a Skoot discount which will no longer be available when the cuddly card carrying bear hits production. If the $20,000 goal is surpassed, Cuddly Cards will put the money towards working on their next two plush characters that they have in the pipeline.
The idea behind the bear came to D’Oyley when he had trouble finding a genuine, unique gift for his son. As the leader of a team of designers for plush toys, D’Oyley began to think of how to modify those popular gifts to enable a person to give a truly personal gift. “The idea is to give people the option of sending a one-of-a-kind gift without the hassle and expense that normally comes with custom gifts of that nature” says D’Oyley. Cuddly Cards hope to have Skoot on the shelves in time for St. Valentine’s Day 2014.
