Carcazan - London's Fresh New Photography Talent With A Twist

"Daily Masterpiece" artist/photographer seeks exhibition funding via Indiegogo

Carcazan is the UK's fresh new undiscovered artist and photographer making her debut at the Brick Lane Gallery "Photography NOW" exhibition in April 2014 where she is participating in a joint collaboration with photographer Jan Doerfel.

Basing her photography ethic on the self-penned “Daily Masterpiece” concept, Carcazan’s photography aims to capture a still from the generally unnoticed or unnoticeable and exposes it to show the hidden masterpiece it holds. Spot the gem. Is it a gem? Why can you not see it? How could that image come from that venue when I go there all the time?

The plan is simple: being able to continue making art, taking unusual photographs, exhibit them and market them for global consumption. Not bad, but it all needs funding.

Renting 3metres of shared gallery space costs more than it sounds. Brick Lane Gallery are curating a brand new “Rural Landscape v Urban” exhibition in July 2014. Carcazan has a body of work she wants to exhibit in this theme and has set up a crowdfunding pitch on Indiegogo – the call for funders is on and there are just under two weeks left to make the target or miss the opportunity she has been waiting for.

Carcazan has been drawing, oil painting and cartooning ever since she felt the use of her hands. Whether illustrating articles or publications through her education, to impromptu card-making and cartooning, Carcazan developed a body of work in oil paint and watercolour – all waiting for that “some day” moment. She is planning a 'GeoMetro' oil painting project, depicting famous landmarks as if constructed by geometric tilework of oriental influence – a trans-cultural urbanisation of the old and new with a twist.

It was the gift of a camera which opened her artistic mind’s third eye. Experimenting with a variety of focuses, subjects, styles and colour contrasts including a range in black and white with a single colour highlight, Carcazan developed a photographic collection of quotidian-come-masterpiece fusion: seeking the art in what people either walk past every day or take for granted, capturing the aesthetic detail in the functional. The inaugural curation of the Rural Landscape v Urban exhibition at Brick Lane Gallery would offer Carcazan a plateau to demonstrate the social comment her lens lends.

You know the balance – day job versus dream. Though thoroughly worthwhile, working in adult protection also means Carcazan’s artistic hopes took a back seat for a number of years. There has always been some selfless or practical reason Carcazan's art got shelved under 'some day.' After experiencing a free-fall during a European flight thanks to a severe air pocket, Carcazan decided amongst the screaming passengers and coffee stains on the aircraft ceiling that “some day” must surely have arrived. The time is now, just like with each photo: one click and it’s frozen forever just how Carcazan feels it as a photographer – and that is what shines through in her work.

Carcazan is ready and bursting to continue exhibiting and carve out a name and brand for herself in an exciting Gallery in London’s vibrant Brick Lane and beyond. Are you part of her “some day?” You could be. It starts with one click.. or it all ends with no click.

London’s art scene has a new voice – make it heard and make others listen:
