Bringing to light the extraordinary works of Samuel Gottschall.

New York, New York, December 5, 2013- The Hebrew Liturgical Works of Samuel Gottschall are ready for publication. After twelve years of transcription from manuscript, transliteration of text, editing, and proofreading, these suppressed choral compositions will again be heard.

The crowdfunding campaign went live on Kickstarter December 5th and will continue to run through January 8th, 2014. The goal is to raise $42,000, to fund a limited edition of this three volume 1700 page work.

Samuel Gottschall’s choral works are unique – nothing like them exist elsewhere in the Jewish Liturgy, or, indeed in the entire musical world. But the circumstances of his place of residence and of the times in which he lived prevented any publication of his music during his lifetime. His pieces were however circulated in manuscript. Soon after his death in 1811, everything he had written was hidden away.

Fortuitous circumstances have now brought this treasure to light. And we have labored hard to offer the public an edition both accurate and convenient to use. Now the public is invited to contribute to the printing of these works. Contributions may range from just one dollar. There are perks awarded for various amounts contributed and those who contribute five-hundred dollars or more may receive copies of this first edition.
