Invention Provides a Painless and Easy Way to Play Guitar
The Finger Friendly Guitar Co. seeks backers to support production of its product that makes learning the guitar a painless process.
DENVER, COLO.—Learning the guitar can be a rewarding experience, but many people are discouraged by the pain of building up calluses on the fingertips in order to hold down the strings properly. Now the Finger Friendly Guitar Co. has a solution that enables casual guitar players to effectively form the chords without causing pain and callusing, and the company has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $15,000 by August 9 to help with the cost of mass production.
The Finger Friendly solution eliminates the need to press fingertips to hard strings by implementing the Finger Friendly Keyboard, which is much easier on the fingers and presses the strings in place of the fingers. Instead of building calluses and playing despite the pain, those learning to play the guitar can focus on learning the chords in a pain-free environment. “With the Finger Friendly solution, fingers just don’t get sore,” said inventor Don Bacon. “It doesn’t matter if you play every day or just pick up the guitar on special occasions. Sore fingertips are a thing of the past.”
Aside from sore fingertips, guitar students are also easily frustrated by the proximity of the strings and the need to press the strings close to the fret. Difficult as it is for a person with average-sized fingers, a person with large fingers may find this task impossible. The Finger Friendly Keyboard utilizes wasted space between frets by stacking the keys on the keyboard, delivering accurate and clean-sounding chords.
“Not only does my invention make hitting the right chord easy, it also enables users to play the one, three, and five strings and the two, four, and six strings with one finger,” said Bacon. “By giving the fingers a large target, the Finger Friendly solution produces painless, perfect chords.” Additionally, the Finger Friendly Keyboard offers thumb levers that can be used to depress the fifth and sixth strings.
Attaching easily to the neck of any six string electric or acoustic guitar with two straps of Velcro, the Finger Friendly Guitar solution is gentle on the instrument and is easily transferred from one guitar to the next. It can even be used while tuning.
Bacon has already created three-dimensional prototypes for his invention and is now seeking crowdfunding to help with the cost of mass production and marketing.
