A 100% veteran-owned and operated food truck business seeks $15,000 for food and supplies, so it can start its mission to help veterans in and around the Sacramento area.

Sacramento, CA–May 12, 2014– Vet Chefs, a new veteran-owned and operated food truck business that will be servicing the Sacramento area, is almost ready to begin its mission to help veterans, but first it needs to raise $15,000 by May 31, 2014. The three co-owners, Oliver Tanner, Melissa Wortman and Seth Borges, are US military veterans who recently swapped their fatigues for chef hats.  Their dream is to use their culinary and business talents to provide jobs and opportunities for fellow veterans as well as to honor them. The funding raised will go towards additional equipment, supplies, and food ingredients needed for the team’s first catering setup. A portion of the contributions will also help purchase campaign rewards such as hats, t-shirts, and challenge coins.

“There is so much good that we can do in this world, especially for our nation’s vets,” said Vet Chefs’ founder Oliver Tanner. “There has never been a company quite like Vet Chefs.”

Each of the owners has a passion for food and their veteran brothers and sisters.  Vet Chefs aims to combine those loves in the form of a mobile food truck. By engaging in daily for-profit operations with a chef-driven menu, they’ll be in a special position to raise money for veteran groups with the foods they create. They also look forward to providing jobs and other opportunities to veterans as well as running different types of promotions to acknowledge the efforts of service men and women.

The named “Caught Snacking” food truck, styled in military tradition, will not only act as a mobile food vendor, but also as a memorial for those who died serving their country. The non-service side of the truck will serve as a black canvas “memorial wall” and customers will have an opportunity to have loved one’s names professionally painted on it.

In order to move forward, funds need to be raised. Nine pledge levels have been created to encourage contributions. The levels range from a $10 donation that is good for a free meal voucher, to the ultimate $500 pledge that gets the contributor a hat, t-shirt, challenge coin, exclusive invitation to the Vet Chefs’ Grand Opening Party, and a 3 to 4 hour class on fruit and vegetable carving, cake decorating, bread baking or gourmet cooking. For more information, please visit the campaign page.

Tanner urges people to share the campaign with others. “Please help us create something unique and meaningful with limitless potential!” By donating, people will be contributing to a cause that recognizes and honors those dedicated individuals who selflessly serve their country.
