The future of farming is digital. Agtech, or agricultural technology, is the next theme for the Lantmännen Växthus (Greenhouse) spring 2018 – an accelerator program for agricultural innovations. The program helps entrepreneurs, both within Lantmännen and externally, to develop their ideas into profitable businesses. The spring program is now open for applications.

Entrepreneurs with a business idea within agtech will be given the opportunity to develop their ideas in Lantmännen’s Greenhouse during the spring of 2018, a program in partnership with Agroväst – a development company within green enterprise. Participants are offered an incubator program that will provide support in developing their ideas into commercial products and services.

“The digitalization of Swedish agriculture is important for the future. With the help from new technology, we can optimize our efforts in the arable land, which benefits both the climate and the environment, and at the same time increase food production. For these reasons, we have chosen to focus on agtech in our upcoming spring program, says Emma Nordell, Innovation and Business Developer at Lantmännen R&D who co-manages Lantmännen’s Greenhouse.

All ideas within the agtech area - everything from digital farming and precision sowing, to supporting tools for decision-making and digital measuring systems - are of interest. The program is open to everyone with a good idea: Lantmännen owners, employees as well as external entrepreneurs.

The incubator program consists of a serie of workshops that will be held in Skara, Västra Götaland in Sweden, from early February to early March 2018. At the end of the program, the participants will be invited to pitch their ideas at a dragons' den in Stockholm in March. The best contributions will be offered further support, such as business or prototype development,.

The Greenhouse program also offers invaluable opportunities to network with other program participants and with us at Lantmännen, Agroväst and DataVäxt – a technology company focused on agriculture. All participants will also receive support and advice from mentors during the course of the program. We want to give all the ideas that are selected the very best opportunity to grow,” says Jakob Söderström, Innovation and Business Developer at Lantmännen, who co-manages Lantmännen’s Greenhouse with Emma Nordell.

To apply for the incubator program, please go to the Lantmännen website: www.lantmannen.com/vaxthus. The application deadline is the 17th of December 2017 and the program is free of charge. The workshops will be held in Swedish.
