Major research on challenges faced by the equine industry is being undertaken by Lantra, and the expertise and knowledge of Northern Ireland’s professionals is required for the best possible results.

As part of UK-wide research, Lantra, the skills council supporting the equine industry will hold a focus group to look at issues such as staff retention, availability of training and progression opportunities for both businesses and employees working with horses. Amy Cosgrove, Lantra’s Equine Manager said: “It’s important that the equine industry has the right skills in this constantly changing landscape. We need to hear what industry has to say; to make sure the future workforce has the skills needed for success.” The focus group will take place on Wednesday 26 May 2010 at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim. If you work with horses and would like to participate in this meeting, please contact Lantra’s office on 028 7963 1304 or email ni@lantra.co.uk. Amy concluded: “Up-to-date information on the sector can’t be gained without the help of those working with horses; only by working together can be ensure that the needs of industry are met.” ENDS ISSUED BY: Lantra Press Office - Paula Smyth, Marketing, Communications and Project Co-ordinator, Tel: 028 7963 1304 or email ni.media@lantra.co.uk.
