Hercules and The Heavy Sound Prep Present DJ Classes at The City College of New York
Hercules will be the exclusive digital console brand for the fall 2013 course, which will train students on DJ equipment and educate them on the business of the industry
New York – November 4, 2013 – Hercules, a worldwide leader in portable DJ mixers and computers, has teamed up with The Heavy Sound Prep, a premiere music/lifestyle brand, to host DJ classes at The City College of New York during the fall semester. The course runs from Oct. 15 – Dec. 1 and utilizes two of Hercules’ DJ controllers, the DJ Control AIR+ and the DJConsole RMX 2.
The 30-hour workshop, managed by Continuing and Professional Studies, consists of lectures and hands-on tutorials taught by three core City College of New York instructors who will explore the essentials of the DJ craft throughout the duration. The course also focuses on the business aspect of the trade, educating students on everything from how to hire a manager to successful brand building. Several well-known artists will join the class for guest lectures, including Q-Tip, DJ Cassidy, Large Professor, DJ Alamo, Big Ben, and more.
Students and instructors will work exclusively with Hercules digital consoles and headphones throughout the duration of the course. Those enrolled in the class will learn to mix and scratch on two controllers in the Hercules series, the DJ Control AIR+ and the DJConsole RMX 2. Both models are ideal instruments for emerging DJs to express creativity, work on mixes, turn ideas into music, hone performances and conquer audiences.
Select City College of New York students will get the rare opportunity to put their skills to the test and spin alongside reputable NYC DJs when Hercules hosts a series of nighttime events this fall. Hercules will recruit participants in the workshop to perform during its partnered event series, Hercules Presents: “IT’S YOUR TURN,” a collaboration event with Lyrics To Go’s “THE GET DOWN,” at Pianos NYC, Negril Village, and other venues in Manhattan. Students will get to spin alongside artists such as Dr. Faust, MARRZ, Shaoba McCoy, and more.
