Hercules Partners with Vans Triple Crown of Surfing to Host the Triple Crown FREE School
Philanthropic effort offers local Hawaiian youth the opportunity to embrace their creativity through free art and culture-focused workshops
Hercules, the expert audio solutions designer, today announced a partnership with Vans Triple Crown of Surfing to host the Vans Triple Crown FREE School, a free three-day creative workshop for the local youth of Haleiwa, Hawaii.
Taking place November 14-16 at the Turtle Bay Resort, the Vans Triple Crown FREE School is designed to give back to the local community that annually hosts the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and will consist of daily workshops centered on photography, videography, music, art, surfing, culture, and community. Hosted by WAE by Hercules, the Vans Triple Crown FREE School workshops will also feature support from Vitamin Water, Samsung, Turtle Bay Resort, and GoPro.
“Each year, the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing exposes the local youth to an environment filled with freedom and individuality,” said Michael Peterson of WAE By Hercules. “This year, we wanted to allow the youth within the community to be part of an event that has shaped the surfing scene across the globe by giving them an opportunity to add their own creativity to the event. The Vans Triple Crown FREE School allows students to express themselves through various forms of art and sound, and gives them an opportunity to share with the world what their adventure sounds like.”
Through these workshops, up to 30 students ranging in age from 12 to 21 will have the opportunity to learn from local professionals, volunteers, and staff to develop an end product that will be presented in different interactive formats throughout the remainder of the surfing competition.
Description of the Workshops
Digital Photography & Video: Participants will be immersed into the art of digital photography and video, and will work on documenting the Vans Triple Crown FREE School from their perspective and the surrounding Triple Crown events during a two-day period of time.
Music: Sessions - What Does Your Adventure Sound Like: Students will work on sonic expression by creating a mix that will encompass what their adventure sounds like with their favorite songs. The Hercules BTP04 Adventure Pack Bluetooth Portable Speaker will be center stage as the students will get a chance to carry their mixes with them through all of the planned activities.
Art: The Art of Sound Mural: Art is a major part of the surf and action sports history. Participants will be engaged in a two-day session where they will paint panels to create a cohesive mural that will encompass the theme of representing the sound of the ocean and their connection to nature and their community.
Surfing: Pow Wow With The Pros: During this event, students will meet with iconic surf personalities for an interactive presentation where they will hear about their individual journeys to get where they are in life today. The surfers will share their tricks, tips, and favorite tunes that have helped them along their way to success.
