• MacRoberts appoints two new partners
• Rod Munro and Craig Bradshaw join growing practice
• Arrivals will enhance projects and construction teams

Leading Scottish law firm MacRoberts has recruited two new partners to enhance its projects and construction teams and help develop both key areas.

Rod Munro specialises in project finance, working with leading developers and public and private sector investors on major infrastructure contracts, including NPD schemes.

Craig Bradshaw’s specialism is in non-contentious construction work across a wide range of sectors in the UK. Both have joined from Maclay Murray and Spens (MMS).

Rod, who qualified in 1997, started his career in Edinburgh with MMS. He later worked with Norton Rose and Burness, before moving back to MMS in 2001.

He will now team up again with Craig in MacRoberts’ growing projects and construction teams. Managing Partner John Macmillan revealed recently he aims to increase the company’s 220-strong staff generally, across offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee.

Rod, who is based in Edinburgh and a project finance specialist for nearly 20 years, has advised in numerous sectors and on all the major procurements frameworks used in the UK since the inception of PFI/PPP, including Lift, BSF, hub, NHT and NPD. He has also advised on renewables projects, particularly in the wind, biomass, AD and hydro sectors.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined MacRoberts, one of Scotland’s tier one projects practices. The infrastructure sector is buoyant in Scotland at present. To thrive, attract capital, drive economic growth and compete effectively internationally Scotland needs – and will be investing in - world class infrastructure. The team at MacRoberts aims to make the most of the opportunities, to work on innovative developments and structures and maintain its market-leading practice."

Glasgow-based Craig Bradshaw, who qualified 15 years ago, spent nearly nine years of his early career with MacRoberts before moving to MMS where he worked for almost seven years.

He has been involved in non-contentious construction contracts for multi-million pound energy-from-waste and biomass power plant projects in Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Europe, and infrastructure and commercial developments in the health, education, retail and commercial sectors.

He said: “One of the reasons I have returned to MacRoberts is that it has a longstanding, strong and broad-based reputation for construction, development and infrastructure-related work. These are key sectors for the firm and I am excited to be working with colleagues across the business to provide market-leading advice and service to clients in these areas.”

The new appointments were welcomed by John Macmillan, who earlier this month was elected as MacRoberts’ Managing Partner for a second time and set out plans for significant development, including increasing the workforce by ten per cent within a year.

Mr Macmillan said: “Rod and Craig are both highly experienced lawyers in their respective fields and will significantly enhance the services we provide as we enter a period of strong growth.”
