RENEWABLES FIRM AIMS TO POWER AHEAD IN CAITHNESS
News Release
RES UK
• Energy company reaffirms its commitment to Caithness
• Communities and local suppliers will continue to benefit
• Upbeat message comes in wake of gloomy economic news for the area
Leading renewable energy developer RES has stressed its continuing commitment to Caithness despite a recent blow to the area’s economy.
Confirmation of the company’s support for the area follows doubts over the future of the Forss Business and Technology Park after the company that runs the site was placed in administration.
RES is aiming to further develop its Forss Wind Farm and The Highland Council will review its application on the 19th July, following a site visit by Councillors.
Graeme Kerr, RES Development Project Manager, said: “We have a significant commitment to Caithness and want to expand our value to the local economy. We particularly want to ensure the communities close to the Forss Wind Farm benefit, but we’ve also been instrumental in seeing jobs go to local people, with the maintenance of the turbines for instance.
“We are here for the longer term and hope that the Planning Review Board will see that our plans are nothing but beneficial for Caithness. Scouts, young farmers, school pupils and other community causes have been supported by RES and we will do more.”
RES has injected well over £1million in capital and ongoing revenue spend in Caithness since it first set up a wind farm at Forss in 2003.
