Federal-Mogul expands its high-quality BERU® PSG Glow Plugs range
Ultra-modern pressure sensor glow plugs enhance engine performance and reduce emissions
21 January 2015 – Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML) today announced that BERU®* has once again expanded the range of applications for innovative Pressure Sensor Glow Plugs (PSG) in the aftermarket. The world’s first glow plug to enable precise combustion regulation in real time, is now available as the PSG 006 for the Vauxhall/Opel Astra. Manufactured to OE quality standards, the BERU PSG glow plugs constitute state-of-the-art technology and enable compliance with the most stringent pollutant emission requirements.
The pressure sensor glow plug from BERU is already available for 52 automotive applications, including Audi, Vauxhall/Opel and VW models. The BERU PSG 006 demonstrates the brand’s technology leadership in the glow plug segment. By installing the BERU PSG, higher peak pressures are realised in modern downsized diesel engines. In addition to this, standard and future combustion processes can be pushed even closer to their limits and constantly stable emissions control can be achieved throughout the engine’s entire service life.
The BERU PSG measures the rapidly changing pressure in each cylinder and transmits this information continuously to the engine control unit with the help of an application-specific electronic relay. For this reason, pressure sensor glow plugs from BERU are of vital importance for the accurate control of the combustion processes that enable compliance with current and future exhaust gas standards.
“With this new range extension for the aftermarket, the BERU brand is once again demonstrating the width of its product portfolio,” emphasises Bert De Haes, Group Product Manager Ignition EMEA at Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “The company is also proving its technology leadership by showing that it is capable of providing the rapidly developing car parc with innovative and industry-leading technologies”.
