The eighth annual Swedish Food Blog Awards has this year eleven categories. The three major categories are: The Grand Food Blog Award,  People's Choice and Best Beverage Blog. The prize ceremony is held in conjunction with Scandinavia’s largest Food Fair ”Mitt Kök” at 7-10 November 2013. In addition to these three categories, The Swedish Food Blog Awards Honorary Prize is also awarded to a food blogger who has worked to promote food blogging and other food bloggers through her/his blog.

The other eighth categories are: Best Baking & Dessert Blog, Best Podcast, Best Newcomer, Best Industry Blog, Best Video Content, Best Photo Content and Best Design. The winners will be presented on the web during the awards ceremony.

Publishers have dicovered the impact of food bloggers and several winners of the Food Blogger Award have had the opportunity to publish their own books. Martin Johansson, who won in 2008, Katja Wulf winner in 2010 and most recently Karoline Jönsson 2012, the latter current with cookbook next year.

– It is therefore particularly gratifying that the first prizes for the largest categories are publishing packages from BoD - Books on Demand, says Christopher Anderton, founder of Food blogger Award.

– We are looking forward to be inspired by new food trends and to publish the very best of food bloggers says Maria Bengs, head of BoD in Sweden. Through Matbloggspriset we will reach Sweden's foremost food bloggers and by publishing a book, the winners have the opportunity to gain new readers.

The jury consists of a handpicked selection of professionals with expertise in various fields like food, wine, design, advertising and photography. Most of the jurors have blogs themselves and have blogged about food and wine for several years.

- We are very happy that Paul Svensson and Alexandra Zazzi, both chefs, are part of the jury for the second year running says Anderton. This means that the more professional part of the food industry is represented.

The Swedish Food Blog Award is the oldest blog award in Scandinavia and was presented for the first time in 2005. At that time only 20-30 food bloggers were active compared to the several thousand food bloggers active today. There is an increasing interest in food blogs from readers and in the 2012 People's Choice category, over 300 blogs were nominated. The number of votes are also increasing compared to previous years, last year saw 15,505 approved votes and this year Anderton counts on an even greater interest.
