Metsä Group will pay a bonus of at least one euro per cubic metre for all wood trade carried out with its current and new owner-members between 1 November 2024 and 28 February 2025.The bonus is available to both Metsä Group’s current owner-members and forest owners who become Metsä Group’s owner-members and engage in wood trade with the company between 1 November 2024 and 28 February 2025. The benefits for Metsä Group’s contract customers will get even better when Metsä Group reforms its price guarantee method for wood trade, making it more transparent. Metsä Group marked the inauguration of the bioproduct mill in Kemi on Wednesday, 23 October 2024. Metsä Wood, part of Metsä Group, plans to discontinue plywood production in Suolahti, Finland. The plan to end production at the Suolahti mill is based on its poor profitability. Metsä Group’s pulp and sawmill business has once again achieved EcoVadis’s highest level of recognition, the Platinum rating, for its sustainability efforts. Metsä Group’s Kemi bioproduct mill is back in production

Metsä Group’s Kemi bioproduct mill has been restarted in stages and the mill has returned to production. The repair work caused by the gas explosion in the mill’s evaporation plant in March has been completed, and other annual maintenance work was done during the production shutdown. To ensure the high usability and the planned lifespan of the evaporation plant, the units damaged in the explosion will be completely replaced at a later date to be determined. The bioproduct mill is now continuing to increase production according to start-up plan.
