An important start on your career – Metsä Group to hire nearly 850 summer employees
The company will hire nearly one thousand summer employees across Finland.
“A summer spent at Metsä Group is an excellent springboard for your career. It offers a good overview of the forest industry and the opportunity to work for a sustainable future – handling responsible duties and working with a great group of people,” says Pertti Hietaniemi, Metsä Group’s Senior Vice President, HR.
Metsä Group’s summer jobs are located at the company’s sawmills; pulp, paperboard, tissue paper, Kerto LVL and plywood mills; head office; and wood supply and forest services.
Summer jobs are suitable for people with diverse backgrounds and work experience. Many of the jobs are related to the mills’ production and maintenance as well as wood supply and forest services in procurement districts across the country. Summer jobs are also available at the Espoo head office in areas such as finance, sales, communications and IT.
Metsä Group is one of the main partners of the Responsible workplace campaign launched by Oikotie, a Finnish job board. The company is committed to the principles of responsible workplaces, such as offering proper induction, ensuring employees’ wellbeing and providing support from supervisors. According to Oikotie’s latest summer job survey, as many as 92 per cent of last year’s respondents would recommend Metsä Group to a friend.
“We invest in summer employees’ job orientation and learning, offer varied tasks and pay fair wages that match the requirements of each summer job. We also offer excellent opportunities to learn more and develop into a skilled expert in your field – as well as continue to work with northern wood in the future,” Hietaniemi says.
“Our 2023 summer employees were especially satisfied with their nice co-workers and good workplace community. We also received positive feedback on the summer jobs’ development opportunities, meaningful tasks, fair wages and good induction. Our summer employees also said they were always able to ask for advice,” Hietaniemi says.
Finnish language skills are not essential for all summer jobs. By offering jobs to people who do not speak Finnish, Metsä Group is reaching out to international students to offer summer jobs and traineeships for them as well.
The application period for Metsä Group’s summer jobs is open from 7 December 2023 to 29 February 2024. Learn more about the summer jobs we offer.
