Air conditioning firm wins environmental award
Air conditioning and renewable specialists Abel Environmental Services Ltd (AES), based in Hampshire, has just received a special environmental award for installing a low carbon heating system that offers lower emissions and running costs.
The independent family run business which has been trading for over 25 years was awarded a special Green Gateway Award by manufacturer, Mitsubishi Electric which markets the Ecodan range of air source heat pumps.
“We felt this project deserved recognition because AES has taken its expertise from the commercial sector and packaged it in a way that delivers the same high levels of professionalism and customer service to the domestic market”, explains Martin Fahey, sustainable solutions manager for Mitsubishi Electric.
AES is a specialist in the renewable technology market covering Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Surrey and East Sussex. The company gives free advice on the design and installation of air to water heat pumps, power generating photovoltaic (PV) panels, underfloor heating, air conditioning and LED Lighting products.
“We installed what is known as a cascade heat pump system to a five bedroom home in Alton, Hampshire, which is helping the homeowner reduce carbon emissions and lower their running costs”, explains Trevor Bell, managing director of AES. “The home also has PV panels on the roof which generate electricity to run the renewable heat pump system”.
The home is in an off-gas area where the only options are oil or LPG heating and the installation of the Ecodan heat pump means that the homeowners not only have reliable, low cost heating all year round, they also do not have to worry about the price of fuel or whether the delivery truck can get through in bad weather.
AES receive a special trophy as part of the Green Gateway Award, as well as a £1,000 donation from Mitsubishi Electric which will be split between the Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research.
