Mitsubishi Electric’s award-winning Ecodan® air source heat pump range has received further acclaim at the 2013 National Heat Pump Awards, winning the ‘Commercial Air Source Installation of the Year’ category and being ‘Highly Commended’ for the Training Award.

The installation of an Ecodan CAHV heating system into the 700 sq. ft. showroom of agricultural machinery specialist P. Tuckwell Ltd, was praised by the judges as being “a well-planned and energy monitored project that utilises a low carbon and renewable technology to attain the client’s criteria of reducing dependence on fossil fuel and reducing operating costs”.

The judges also commented that “the client’s testimonial indicates that their objectives for the installation are being achieved”.

Installed by Midlands-based renewable energy specialists, Climate and Power Ltd, two 43kW Ecodan CAHV units provide a sustainable energy source for all the showroom’s heating and hot water requirements.

“This was the first installation of the CAHV into such a large showroom and it has been such a success because of the partnership approach with both Climate and Power and P. Tuckwell,” explained Russell Dean, Heating Sales Manager for Mitsubishi Electric, who collected the award.

In the Training category, Mitsubishi Electric’s unique Ecodan homeowner portal was judged to be an “innovative approach for the consumer,” and a “positive move forward for the industry”.

The portal includes short videos and animations to help homeowners understand how to simply and quickly get the best performance from their home heating. The portal is part of the company’s mission to improve understanding of the low carbon potential of air source heat pumps.

“We were delighted to get praise for this as we strongly believe that helping consumers understand how to use renewable technology is key to getting both lower running costs and reducing emissions,” explained Graham Temple, Marketing Communications Manager for the company’s Heating Division.
