Mitsubishi Electric’s Specification Team become BREEAM Accredited Professionals
Members of Mitsubishi Electric’s dedicated Specification Team have been fully trained as BREEAM Accredited Professionals (AP) in a move that allows the company to speak the same language as its customers.
“BREEAM has fast become the absolute standard of environmental design for construction professionals and we wanted to be able to offer the best advice on projects involving our advanced systems,” explains Perry Jackson, General Manager of the company’s consulting division.
“Having knowledge of how BREEAM fits into the design process helps us to ensure our customers can deliver buildings that meet and surpass certification requirements.”
A BREEAM pass means a project must achieve better than current building regulations and takes into account not only the energy efficiency of a building and the equipment used, but also the health and well-being of its occupants. Heat pump systems score particularly well in these areas.
More and more local planners are specifying BREEAM as a requirement, with an increasing number demanding certifications of Very Good or Excellent. Projects in the London area could even be asked to achieve an Outstanding BREEAM mark.
Qualification as a BREEAM AP allows Mitsubishi Electric’s Specification Team to provide expert advice on built environment sustainability, environmental design and environmental assessment.
The company’s staff are now able to help design teams facilitate successful scheduling of activities, set priorities and negotiate the trade-offs required to achieve a target BREEAM rating when the design is formally assessed.
“We have always looked for ways to help our customers meet their responsibilities and this qualification allows our team to add real, tangible value to projects aiming for the highest BREEAM standards,” adds Jackson.
