Mott MacDonald has been appointed as owner’s engineer by the Phoenix Power Company¹ for the construction of the largest ever power station in the Sultanate of Oman. The 2000MW combined cycle power plant located at Sur in the Sharqiyah region is being developed to meet the growing commercial and consumer demand for electricity. Capable of firing on both natural gas as the main fuel and distillate fuel oil as a back-up, the power station will be equipped with the latest Siemens ‘F class’ gas turbines and a dry low-NOx combustion system.
