Oakbrook, IL – (April 10, 2012) –Over the past six months, Republic Bank of Chicago headed a variety of charitable efforts in support of various local institutions and endeavors throughout the Chicagoland area. Wholly committed to the value of community, Republic Bank’s continuous illustrations of service and substantial donations to surrounding areas reinforces its reputation as a valuable, neighborhood fixture.

“We carefully consider the issues that truly affect our customers and their individual communities,” said Larry Marks, Chief Operating Officer for Republic Bank. “Beyond any of the services we provide as a financial institution, there are greater, widespread needs that must be met which have the potential to benefit the welfare and futures of countless individuals. We’re not just a bank; we want to be a presence of hope and support for marginalized groups and the organizations and institutions that help them.”

Republic Bank remains dedicated to these values of community connection and kinship, and sponsored a number of fundraising and service efforts throughout the local Chicago including, for example: a science fair at Adlai E. Stevenson Elementary School; a computer lab renovation project at the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish School with a $5,000 donation; the playground renovation at DeWitt Clinton Elementary School; program enhancements for the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS); and tuition supplementation for in-need students through a $5,000 contribution to the St. Genevieve Catholic School Scholarship Fund.

Republic Bank Presented $5,000 Donation to DeWitt Clinton Elementary School

Republic Bank presented a $5,000 check to DeWitt Clinton Elementary School, a public K-8 institution in Chicago’s West Rogers Park neighborhood, during the school’s recent annual Literacy Night, which is designed for students, parents and teachers to enhance community involvement and well-being. The donation will be directly applied to the Clinton Campus Renovation, an initiative developed to help design and build a playground for the school.

Commenting on Republic Bank’s participation and overall involvement, Principal Eduardo Cesario stated, “Republic Bank continually demonstrates their dedication and support to the parents and students of the Clinton School community through their generous donations of time and money.  It is a community bank investing in the future of the community it serves.”

Also in attendance at the evening’s event was Alderman Debra Silverstein, 50th, who stated “We’re very pleased that Republic Bank is reaching out to the community this way. With DeWitt Clinton Elementary working on this project to raise money to build a playground for their campus, this money will help them greatly. We’re so happy that Republic Bank has chosen to get involved in the community.”

Republic Bank has also sponsored donation drives on the school’s behalf and has been invited to participate in the school’s Annual Open House and Report Card Pick-Up events throughout the school year.

Republic Bank Presents $5,000 Donation to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia

Republic Bank presented a $5,000 donation to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS), a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other crucial services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence. For 32 years, the CCSS has helped domestic violence victims in the Chicago area, south and southwest suburbs by offering shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, transitional housing, counseling, family care management, court and hospital advocacy, and education on dating violence and partner abuse prevention.

“The women and children we assist often feel incredibly marginalized when they first come to us,” Edward Vega, Executive Director for CCSS said. “Republic Bank’s generous donation expresses an overwhelming sense of compassion and support for victims of domestic violence. Experiencing that kind of humanistic quality from a financial institution is refreshing. We’re so honored that Republic Bank has chosen to help fund our efforts.”

Republic Bank Donates $5,000 to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish School

Republic Bank presented a $5,000 donation to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish School, a longstanding Catholic grammar school inChicago’s West Lawn neighborhood. The contribution will be put towards funds to renovate the school’s computer lab.

“We are humbled by Republic Bank’s generous donation to St. Nicholas’,” said Principal Mariagnes Menden of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish School. “No words can adequately express how thankful we are.”

Republic Bank Presents $5,000 Donation to St. Genevieve Catholic School Scholarship Fund

Republic Bank presented a $5,000 donation to the St. Genevieve Catholic School Scholarship Fund, which aims to provide all deserving children, regardless of their ethnic, religious or economic backgrounds, with the opportunity to experience the value of a Catholic education at St. Genevieve Catholic School Through its scholarship fund, St. Genevieve offers students – from preschoolers to eighth graders – unable to pay full tuition, with the potential for academic success and spiritual growth that it has delivered to the community since 1925.

On behalf of the St. Genevieve community, Principal Marie Neis expressed gratitude for this donation, marking the strong, enduring relationship that the school has enjoyed with Republic Bank for years.

“I was overwhelmed with the generosity of Republic Bank when they announced that they were willing to sponsor our first annual Dinner Dance Scholarship Benefit,” said Neis. “Without this type of assistance, many of our students would not be able to attend St. Genevieve School. It is a well-known fact that parish schools are anchors in our inner city neighborhoods. By this gift, Republic Bank is helping build the school and neighborhood, and enabling our students to eventually give back even more to our community with their education. St. Genevieve and Republic Bank have had a close working relationship for almost ten years and I am happy that this will continue.”
