STANLEY HEALTHCARE LAUNCHES MAJOR NEW PRODUCT INITIATIVES AT AWHONN CONVENTION

Indianapolis, IN – Stanley Healthcare Solutions, a business of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., launches today three new product initiatives for its Patient Security platform at the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Annual Convention in Las Vegas. These new solutions and services will redefine how patient security technology is used.

Mobile Point-of-Care Interface

Harnessing smart phone and other standard mobile computing technologies, Stanley Healthcare Solutions can now offer a portable user interface for its patient security systems. The company has developed an “app” for the Apple® iPad™ mobile digital devise, that enables users to monitor the status of the Hugs® infant protection system from anywhere within the hospital. The app also runs on Apple iPhone® and iPod® devices.

This is a major step in providing medical staff with point-of-care information so that they can remain focused on patient care, while still receiving essential information from the patient security system.

Voice-Activated Control

Working with its partner Vocera, Stanley Healthcare has integrated Vocera’s two-way voice technology into the Patient Security platform to enable voice-activated control of the system. Users can receive patient security system information on portable communication badges, and interact with the system using standardized voice commands. This technology will enable caregivers to coordinate responses to system events, including alarms, in the most efficient and effective way.

New Kisses® mother/infant matching

Stanley Healthcare Solutions has totally redesigned its Kisses mother/infant matching option for the Hugs system, which provides automatic and audible support to traditional matching bands. The Kisses tag has been reduced in size by a third, and is now available with an optional Kisses band designed to fit the tag. Changes have also been introduced to the Hugs software to align it better with clinical workflow: a mother tag can now be admitted into the system first, and then bonded with the infant tag once the baby is born.

The Patient Security suite of products consists of the Hugs infant protection system, Pedz™ pediatric protection system, and Passport™ patient protection system. The Hugs system is trusted by thousands of hospitals nationwide to protect newborn infants from the threat of abduction or mother/infant mismatching. The Pedz system is the only product specifically designed to protect pediatric patients from abduction or patient flight, while the Passport system provides individual protection to patients in a variety of hospital departments. All three products share a common platform, enabling hospitals to protect their entire patient population.
