OAKBROOK, IL – (August 10, 2012) – The Republic Bank of Chicago has donated $1,000 to the Ada S. McKinley Educational Services’ Students Trunk Scholarship Fund. Republic Bank’s offering will go towards providing everyday campus living essentials – such as school supplies, linens, toiletries and computers – to those students whom the Ada S. McKinley Community Services agency grants scholarships to colleges and universities across the U.S.

“Republic Bank’s incredible charitable donation will ensure the success of our scholarship recipients in both academics and college life,” said Aaron Gelb, a Chicago-based attorney who served as Committee Chair of the Trunk Scholarship Initiative. “Their wealth of community spirit now will make sure that these students have a bright and promising future.”

The donation to Ada S. McKinley is only one of many endeavors Republic Bank has and will continue to make to Chicagoland communities throughout the year. By the end of 2012, Republic Bank will have donated $125,000 to a variety of community reinvestment efforts.

“More than anything else, Chicago is our community, and just like the Ada S. McKinley Community Services agency, we’re completely devoted to it,” said Susan Fisher, EVP Retail Banking and Director of Marketing for Republic Bank. “We hope this donation not only serves to strengthen the here and now of Chicago’s youth, but also helps these young people accomplish their dreams to become positive, empowered community influencers in the years to come.”
