Change in NCC’s purchasing operations and risk management to improve profitability
To increase focus on purchasing at NCC, with the aim of improving profitability in the company, purchasing will be placed immediately under the control of Harri Savolainen, who is a member of the Executive Management Team. In parallel, NCC’s risk management will be coordinated in one unit under Legal Affairs.
“NCC conducts purchasing for about SEK 40 billion every year. Purchasing operations are a fundamental part of our strategic work to raise profitability at NCC. Placing this function immediately under the control of Harri Savolainen in the Executive Management Team will further increase focus on this key area,” says Håkan Broman, acting President and CEO of NCC.
Harri Savolainen, who is currently Head of Operational Support and IT and a member of the Executive Management Team, will take on a dedicated role as Head of Purchasing for NCC Group starting in March. Harri Savolainen has solid experience of the business as line manager and has a great deal of expertise in the area of purchasing.
Purchasing operations were reorganized in 2016 and were centralized as part of NCC’s current strategy. The strategy has been successful with greater coordination since then, which has also led to lower costs.
Peter Gjörup, who is currently head of purchasing, will now transition to a role as senior advisor to the CEO, within specific areas.
At the same time, NCC will coordinate its risk management into one unit, Group Risk Management, under the NCC Group’s Legal Affairs. Anders Esbjörnsson has been named as Head of NCC Group Risk Management with the assignment to coordinate risk management at NCC.
“Anders Esbjörnsson has been tasked with setting up a shared way of working with risk management within internal audit, safety, compliance and insurance issues. I am convinced that better coordination in risk management will contribute to improved profitability in our projects,” says Håkan Broman.
The change will come into effect in March.
