NCC GROUP: INTERIM REPORT JANUARY-MARCH 2000 * The Group reported a loss for the period of SEK 140 m. (loss: 63) after net financial items. The figure for the first quarter of 1999 included a capital gain of SEK 95 m. from the sale of Neptun Maritime. Excluding Neptun Maritime, earnings increased by SEK 18 m. The consolidated result after full tax amounted to a loss of SEK 96 m. (loss: 47). * On a rolling 12-month basis, income after net financial items amounted to SEK 1,174 m., compared with SEK 1,251 m. for full-year 1999. Earnings per share on a rolling 12-month basis amounted to SEK 7.28 compared with SEK 7.70 for full-year 1999. * Net sales rose by 7 percent to SEK 7,656 m. (7,177). * Orders received by NCC's construction operations rose by 13 percent to SEK 9,150 m. (8,066). Within the Housing business area, orders received more than doubled, with sharply increased profitability. * During January - March 2000, NCC sold managed properties with a sales value of SEK 542 m. (133). In addition, partly owned properties were sold for SEK 459 m. The sales generated capital gains of SEK 99 m. (34). Following these sales, the portfolio of managed properties amounted to SEK 5,557 m. on March 31. * Decision to build Kista Science Tower, Sweden´s most spectacular IT property. Total investment: SEK 1.5 billion. "Construction investments in the Nordic region continue to increase. The housing market is continuing to strengthen in Sweden and remains strong in Finland. The prospects for real estate development are favorable in all of our markets," comments Jan Sjöqvist, President and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC Group. "Earnings from construction operations are improving steadily and NCC is increasingly gaining the character of a group that is active throughout the Baltic Sea region. For the first time, sales outside Sweden account for more than half of orders received. We can also state that the IT content in our products and services is increasing sharply. NCC now offers intelligent housing and offices that provide access to broadband connections with a rich service content" adds Jan Sjöqvist. "Today's meeting of the Board of Directors decided to initiate construction of Kista Science Tower, the first property in the next generation of intelligent offices, tailor-made for Sweden's leading IT companies," adds Jan Sjöqvist.
